A little background, I began trading about 5 years ago when I was working all day every day in my small construction

business. In 1999 my 43 year old wife of 18 years was told she had cancer. I began to study online to try to save her life.and learned so much over the next 5 years about staying healthy and eating right. We tried everything to save her but lost the battle in 2006. I say this because in this process I got very healthy and learned the importance of exercise and diet. Then I started trading forex in 2008. I was actually working from 12-16 hours a day and was beginning to get head aches and eye aches. Now I have learned  to take breaks and exercise and not trade 5 minute charts anymore. Theo is a god sent to the trading world and we should take him very serious and learn from him. I will continue giving some health hints as a person not a doctor if there is any interest. My first health hint is Baking Soda I use pure arm and hammer. Brush your teeth everyday, 3 times a day with it. It will not kill you if you swallow a little in fact it pours the oxygen into your body and kills bacteria. Don't consume it because it is a salt.I suggest you look it up online. It is also used by some people to try to kill cancer. I have been using it for years and I have no problems and no cavities. I believe if everyone used it there would be no need for dentist LOL

what a great little thread, healthy body healthy mind,

Daily exercise and healthy eating are also part of my trading plan but certainly something each person needs to see the value in by themselves. I am very sorry to hear about your wife, it seems we are dropping like flies to the cancer the further we advance in the information age and all these GMO foods were born. I too lost someone very close to me to cancer just 2 years ago, it's horrible to watch.

My daily routine when I am at home is to spend 2-3 hours at the computer over coffee and a large breakfast, then 2-3 hours exercising (biking, swimming, isometrics, plyometrics etc) and doing whatever daily chores I have on the list, then 2-3 hours at the computer again. Trading itself doesn't need all of these computer hours each day but I also use the time to develop and test EA's, do things with this website, and read up on my interests to expand my knowledge.

You first tip with the baking soda is something I have tried and tested and now do everyday. I had some staines slowly appear on a couple of my teeth a few years back, probably from coffee and red wine, I was about to go to the dentist for a cleaning but decided to pour a little baking soda on top of my toothbrush with each brush. 1 week later the staines were all gone and the dentist was averted. When I did finally go to the dentist for a cleaning at a much later date I was told that my teeth were in amazing shape and not much of a clean was needed, the visit was all over very fast.

My first tip to add here is for people who struggle with their weight, it seems to be a bit of an epidemic these days in many first world countries. After my visit to Canada 2 years ago I actually put on 9 kilos which I put down mainly to their massive portions of everything and GMO foods along with the high carbohydrate meals. Sure I was on holiday and eating more than normal but it seems excessive to put on that much in 1 month. Anyway I digress; losing weight is as simple as a low carbohydrate way of eating and a little daily exercise (even walking). Cut the pasta, potato and bread along with all junk foods and sweets. Focus your meals on proteins, greens and vegetables, eat as much of them as you want, there is no need to go hungry to lose weight. Drink almost only water and cut all the juices and soft drinks etc. I was able to lose 9 kilos as fast as I put it on, 1 month.

Good to hear others are having success with baking soda, Just make sure it is pure because cheap brands may have aluminum in it. I read a book called the China study and the doctor who did the study said the body literally goes in shock just trying to digest meat. I now eat very little meat when I want to cheat. I threw away all the cakes and sugar and only eat natural sweets such as fruits and berries. You mentioned weight and diet and I may have found the answer.First let me say I do not think diets work and it must be a life style change. Since I lost my wife I have re married to a Thai lady and we now eat tons of natural organic vegetables and at first it was fun but now I see the value in it. The asians have a very low cancer rate.

My next tip is simple apple cider vinegar; My mom is 82 and has arterial disease and her arteries are always clogged and the Doctor told her it was hereditary and she should warn her children. I began Apple cider vinegar 11 years ago and my arteries are fine but the great side effect was weight loss. I put a tea spoon in a large glass of water all day every day every time. 3-5 glasses a day. I saw no results for the first 2-3 weeks but after that just a slow steady loss until I reached my normal body weight. If you drink it directly you must rinse out your mouth because the acid will hurt your enamel. The acid also acts as an anti acid. There are many benefits of Apple cider vinegar. What is the use of learning how to trade and make money if we are to sick to go out and enjoy it. Read about it online its amazing stuff. I would love to hear about others experience with this. Remember we are not medical advisers always check with your health care adviser. Cheers

One of the most important things we can do is flood our body with oxygen, I mentioned how baking soda helps to do this and another way is exercise. I found one of the best ways to increase the heart rate. I bought a 4 ft body by Jake trampoline. I use it each day just bouncing or running in place. It is very low impact and easy on the body. Bouncing helps keep our lymphnodes clear. This is our 2nd lungs and helps remove toxins from our body. Simple and effective . Doctors say to get our heart rate up at least 20 minutes a day. Please pace your self and work your way up. 3-5 minutes will wear you out I always do it when I need a break from trading and I always come back refreshed. Looking for others opinions in this area. God Bless TDTB

I have always promoted daily exercise to anyone who will listen .. I am a little more extreme that what you have mentioned but even a brisk 1 hour walk per day with good nutrition helps the brain and your productivity with whatever you are doing. I often quote Richard Branson who when asked how to be more productive simply replies "work-out". If you read the book 4-hour body there is plenty of science behind this statement also.

I agree on working out but I like to gear my advise to a little older crowd. I worked like a dog in construction for many years and pretty much destroyed my wrists and shoulders from repetition. both rotator cuffs are shot and all of this from way over doing it.This too will shorten ones life. I studied Jack LE Lane The juice guru and he lived to 96 years old. I honestly think God never designed us to work like that. Most Americans work long hard hours and don't holiday enough and I decided to try moderation. The bible says what ever you do you should do in moderation. My next tip was to be on walking which you touched on and this is possibly one of the most important things you can do for your health. It's low impact and heart healthy. It affects every part of your body especially the brain. Walk every day and start slow and work up to a brisk 1-2 hour walk every day. I don't run because it is not low impact but on my small trampoline I do. Enjoy great health TDTB

Hi traders, Just wanted to give a quick tip on the value of sunshine. New research suggest that Vitamin D-3 has great health benefits. This is the form of vitamin you get from the sun. Only need about 20 minutes a day.If you live in Northern regions of the world you probably need to supplement this in the winter months. Also a great mood enhancer. Enjoy your sunshine and feel better when you trade. Cheers TDTB

Hi Traders, I hope you are enjoying my personal health tips. They have helped me so much. Today I would like to discuss the value of pure fresh water. I studied it for a long time and found the reverse osmosis to be economical and pretty darn good. Takes out heavy metal and gives it a good taste with the carbon filters. I have an under the counter  system.Don't drink chlorine water ever. Chlorine is pure poison. As traders we may be trading water in the near future. Many experts believe there will be a shortage in the near future. There are tons of health benefits in drinking water. Enjoy 3-5 glasses of pure fresh water every day. God Bless TDTB

Hello Traders, Lets talk about trading and the value of a trading plan. I have progressed along enough that I treat this as a business. Part of that is a daily plan. When I awake in the early morning I don't even want to open my eyes before coffee

( my one bad habit) . I finally wake up as the computer wakes up and I review the trades from the last 4 hours and yes I check it every 4 hours. I then exercise for about 1 hour and then the shower.I eat a healthy breakfast. By this time I spend some time trading and then go do chores before the next 4 hour candle arrives.I then have usually fruit for lunch and then practice all afternoon on a demo account. Lately I seem to practice all day but always find time for some sunshine and fresh air.My main plan is to incorporate my exercise, meals and sunshine with my trading. I hope to someday be able to only check my trades 1-2 times a day. Please remember to have some special time for friends and family as this is the key to keeping mentally fresh. Regards and stay healthy TDTB

I am glad to be back after a 2 weeks break and seeing some new members. Glad to also hear so much of health discussions. stupideaWell, I am also a healthy guy but looks like Theo and touchdowntampa beats me. I have read about baking soda for brushing teeth but didn't dare to try it. Looks like it's working for you guys, I might just try it. I live in Asia and the cancer rate has gone up so much. These days a lot of people are dying because of cancer. Before, it was heart diseases.

I too now try to look at the charts lesser. I use to fear missing the chance for an entry but now try to tell myself that all these requires patience and I'll get another chance in future. Anyway, happy to hear we all share some common goals. Happy new year! Hope 2013 will be a great success for us in forex trading!

Happy New Year Jason, nice to have you back.. I wish you health and wealth for 2013 money

I have a couple weeks of travel left myself, then I will be back in my office and into the full EFX swing of things. We have some great little projects on the go which should ad to the "less screen time" side of trading so I am really looking forward to this first quarter. See you in the Live Room soon.

touchdowntampa has started a great little thread here, I will enjoy reading and adding more to this topic.

The increase in Cancer seems to be a global epidemic Jason, too much fast food, too many Genetically Modified Foods, not enough exercise and not enough clean water. The unfortunate truth is that the World is only focused on profit at any cost to human life.

I've been researching how to  functioning from an optimimum psychlogical and emotional level in relation to life in general and trading specifically. This lead me to the discovery of John Bradshaw's book:free here

What I realized is that it is quite possible that an unsuccessful trader may be trading through a false self paradigm and not their authentic self. A false self/selves (created out of necessity in childhood due to trauma of many kinds) is essentially delusional and therefore unable to perceive reality in general and in this case the markets accurately. I'm reading this book for the second time and have found it absolutely fascinating and extremely informative and know it can be helpful to pretty much everyone.

Hello everyone and welcome back. I trust everybody had a great holiday. My health tip for today is to talk a little about raw food.

Most of the food we eat today is over cooked and it has no enzymes left in it.Eat as much food raw as possible and you will maintain a healthy colon. Your body thrives on raw vegetables and fruits. Make at least 20-40% of your diet raw foods. A side note is to try to buy organic. Cheers TDTB

Hi Traders, I want to talk about one of the most important things we can do for our health. Doctors say we need at least 7-9 hours of sleep a day. Nothing revives the body like proper rest. So plan your life around a good nights sleep. Your brain and your body completely rejuvinates during sleep. A side note also if one has trouble sleeping don,t use sleeping pills. Melatonin is a natural sleep aid and is already in our bodies mostly in the eyes and as we age we lose 60-70 % of it. It is non toxic and non addictive. One only needs 1-3 mgs 20 minutes before sleep time. Cheers and Have A good rest

I second the Melatonin. Very useful for Jetlag and I mostly use it when I am travelling the globe. When I am at home I will only take some if I am having a hard time getting to sleep and it's dipping below 7 hours before my desired wake up time.

Hey Theo, You are right about melatonin being good for jet lag and it seems to reset your biological clock.

I wanted to talk about stress and why it is hard on us. Stress is one of the deadliest killers there is. We don't see it but it is there and over time it's deadly. At all cost we need to reduce stress. Do things like exercise, walking, cycling, smiling or dancing.

Yoga is also a good way to reduce stress. Traders are especially prone to stress. This is a business where you are negative before you start with no guarantee whether you will lose your investment or not and this is very stressful.I could go on and on with this but every trader should be aware of this fact. Cheers TDTB

Fresh Air is on my mind today. Did you know scientist have checked the oxygen content in ancient ice and have determined that we breathe about one half of the oxygen today. Pollution is real and some people think that we can pump millions of tons of hydro carbons in the air with no side effects. Some things we can do is live in a dust free enviorment and change our filters in our homes often. Try to live in the country if possible. also some cars now come with changeable air filters. Lastly ion filters are available for both home and car use. I will buy an electric car once I make money trading so as to do my part. Does anyone have more ideals?
